We can resize on almost every type of ring but you need to be sure to get professional advice before proceeding with this. If you aren’t sure whether it is wise to re-size, pop in to our boutique in Crowthorne and we would be more than happy to give our advice.
Before you make the decision to re-size, make sure you understand how a ring should correctly fit on your finger.
A ring which is correctly sized to your finger should feel slightly tight to you. It should go on to our fingers easily and be slightly harder to come off.
Make sure you give yourself enough time to get used to wearing the ring as it might feel unusual at first. It can also differentiate with the temperature to your hands throughout the day.
After a few days, if you still feeling some discomfort, get in touch with us and we can adjust.
Making your ring bigger
There are two main methods to increase the size of your ring but this will depend on how many sizes up it needs to go. If the ring only needs to go slightly larger, for example half a size up, we can achieve this by stretching.
However, if the ring needs to go up more than half a size then we would need to cut the ring and add in extra metal to the band. One of the biggest problems that can occur with this method is when a ring has an ornate pattern. We will always try our very best to match the patterns as close as possible.
Making your ring smaller
Generally a very simple method. We have to cut off part of the ring shank and then solder the two ends together.
The only way this can become slightly more difficult is if the ring has inset stones or delicate gems. However, instead of cutting into the ring, you could try using sizing beads which sit on the back part of the inside of your ring. This can reduce the ring spinning round on your finger.
